MATTHEW ISAKOWITZ FELLOWSHIP

Two College affiliates have been selected for the Matthew Isakowitz Fellowship Program, which connects exceptional current college juniors, seniors, and graduate students with paid, summer internships in the exciting field of commercial spaceflight, as well as with notable aerospace leaders for mentorship.

Swati Ravi CC’22, of Plano, Texas, attended Columbia as a Science Research Fellow, majoring in astrophysics. At Columbia, Swati served as Co-President of the Columbia Space Initiative, spearheading multiple research projects. Swati is currently pursuing an MSc in Space, Science and Technology at University College Dublin through the Mitchell Scholarship. This summer, Swati will be working in the "Destinations Safety and Mission Assurance" division of Sierra Space for their Orbital Reef project. She especially looks forward to participating in the culminating 3-day summit, which features tours of space companies, talks from space industry experts, and a chance to meet other fellows and alums across a wide range of the commercial space industry.

Tycho Bogdanowitsch SEAS’24, originally from Bergen Country, NJ, is a mechanical engineering major. He is a current Co-President of the Columbia Space Initiative, where he leads the development of the fluid propulsion system for their hybrid rocket, and works to inspire the next generation of space enthusiasts through outreach and mentoring programs. He has experience in the aerospace industry as a Phillips Space Scholar at the Air Force Research Lab and as a Space Environments Engineering Intern at Maxar, working on space debris protection methods at both. This summer, he will intern at Vast Space, working on propulsion for the Orbiter team. He looks forward to working on flight hardware that will be launched into space in 2024.
