NICO MOLDOVEAN

Matthew Isakowitz Fellow, Class of 2024

Tufts University, Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Minor in Mathematics

Host Company: Redwire

Nico Moldovean is a junior studying mechanical engineering at Tufts University. He is passionate about rapid and affordable access to space, as well as improving life on Earth through in-space technology. As the president of Tufts Students for the Exploration and Development of Space (Tufts SEDS), he is committed to building a strong and supportive aerospace environment at a school without any aerospace program. Nico is also Team Lead of the Tufts SEDS Rocketry Team, where he has worked tirelessly over the past two years to grow the team from a small group focused on model rockets to a highly capable engineering project team that is competing in the 2024 Spaceport America Cup. Since this past summer, Nico has worked at NASA as a mechanical engineering Pathways intern, developing test plans and designing analysis hardware for the DAVINCI mission to Venus.

When he is not building rockets or sharing his passion for space with his peers, Nico enjoys cooking, skiing, playing the piano, gardening, and making homemade jam (especially wild gooseberry).
