JULIA PROCTOR

Matthew Isakowitz Fellow, Class of 2023

Cornell University, Master of Engineering in Aerospace Engineering
Cornell University, Bachelor of Science in Applied Engineering Physics

Host Company: Astranis

Julia is a Master of Engineering student in Aerospace Engineering at Cornell University. She is interested in guidance, navigation, and controls (GNC) as well as dynamics and simulation. She graduated with a B.S. in Engineering Physics from Cornell in December 2022. As an undergraduate, she was an aerodynamics engineer on Cornell FSAE Racing, a student-led project team that designs, builds, and competes a Formula-1 style race car each year. Additionally, she was a teaching assistant for a graduate course in orbital mechanics and attitude dynamics, where she enjoyed sharing her passion and knowledge with students. She interned at ABL Space Systems as a member of the flight sciences team where she developed in-house simulations of multi-body dynamics. Julia aspires to push the boundaries of commercial space by solving complex problems related to GNC. She believes GNC requires some of the most fascinating and interdisciplinary problem-solving within the field of engineering as GNC blends aspects of mathematics, orbital mechanics, and computer science in a unique and exciting way. In her free time, Julia enjoys exploring the outdoors, playing piano, and cycling.
