THERESE MALINOWSKI

Matthew Isakowitz Fellow, Class of 2023

Purdue University, Bachelor of Science in Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering, Bachelor of Arts in Music Technology

Host Company: Rocket Lab

Therese Malinowski is a junior at Purdue University double-majoring in aeronautical and astronautical engineering, with a specialization in propulsion, and in music technology. The catalyst for her love of aerospace engineering came from a lifetime of involvement with the Experimental Aircraft Association, through which she assisted with the construction of an experimental aircraft, shadowed Airframe and Propulsion mechanics, and found community. In college, Therese has had involvement with AIAA’s Vertical Flight Systems team, EPICS (a Purdue service-learning design program), and undergraduate research in astrodynamics and musically-applied artificial intelligence. She has also earned the honor of National Gold Award Girl Scout for the creation of the Illinois campus sexual assault database, Project Dandelion. This past summer, Therese was able to explore her first industry experiences through the Brooke Owens Fellowship, where she worked as a test engineer for Masten Space Systems and Virgin Orbit. Overall, her work is driven by a vision for the future of commercial space innovation that prioritizes sustainability and ethics for progress that makes space a positive resource for all of humanity, and she is incredibly honored to be a Matthew Isakowitz Fellow. In her free time, Therese enjoys building string instruments, drawing comics, and playing video games.
