Emma Johnson is a 4th year student at Georgia Tech majoring in Aerospace Engineering. Outside of the standard curriculum she strives to learn about Earth Science and explore how engineering can enhance scientific pursuits. In her undergraduate career she has done research in both the Aerospace and Space Systems Design Laboratories (ASDL and SSDL) working on everything from sustainable lunar habitation design to data handling for a balloon payload. Additionally she interned at Boeing doing payload design engineering for their commercial unit and is currently a project manager doing microgravity testbed design for a biofilm contamination prevention project funded through a NPWEE academy. Outside of school, Emma volunteers through SGT in addition to singing, tap dancing, and hiking. Her passions lie in scientific satellite and instrumentation design in addition to human spaceflight systems, especially ECLSS and EVA suits. In her career she hopes to help the Earth through development of systems to enable further exploration of our home planet and all that surrounds it!
