BLAKE SHEPHERD

Matthew Isakowitz Fellow, Class of 2022

Massachusetts Institute of Technology
, Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering with a Concentration in Space Exploration

Host Company: Millennium Space Systems

Blake Shepherd is a third-year undergraduate student at MIT majoring in aerospace engineering with a concentration in space exploration. Blake believes in the joint mission of using space systems for both exploration and spurring growth for those on the ground. This has led Blake to work in MIT’s Space Propulsion lab assisting in the development of a next-generation CubeSat and MIT Media Lab’s Space Enabled research group where he researches how space technologies can be utilized to achieve the United Nation’s seventeen sustainable development goals.

Blake enjoyed two previous internships at The Aerospace Corporation’s Vehicle Design and Innovation Department and Raytheon Technologies’ Intelligence and Space Division. His primary interests are in spacecraft design and propulsion technologies, and he hopes to ultimately contribute to expanding human spaceflight capabilities (though he prefers to stay on the ground).

Blake enjoys reading, spending time with friends, and exploring music.
