Matthew Isakowitz Fellow, Class of 2023

Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering, Minor in Computer Science

Host Company: Blue Origin

Benjamin Rich is a third-year undergraduate student at MIT majoring in Aerospace Engineering with a concentration in information technology, and minoring in Computer Science. Ben is most interested in autonomy, controls, and robotics, and enjoys coupling a passion for coding with hands-on engineering. Ben chose Aerospace engineering as a means to be exposed to many forms of science, while also embracing his belief in the value of exploring the unknown and the benefits associated with space exploration. Ben has worked in a variety of labs at MIT, and previously interned with SpaceX on the Starlink propulsion team. Most recently, Ben worked in Italy researching the use of neural networks and remote sensing satellite data to predict the effects of climate change. In the future, Ben hopes to pursue unique technical solutions to complicated problems in space and on earth.

In his free time, Ben enjoys hiking, biking, and reading!
